Tony Campolo popularized the phrase “Red Letter Christianity” to emphasize Christians who take the life of Christ, the sacredness of Scripture, and the message of the Gospel seriously and who also want to move away from a caustic, polarizing, political American version of Christianity to one that aligns itself with Jesus Christ and the words the way he proclaimed (red letters, in some Bibles).

In late 2010, Be Gee M worked with the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education, Tony’s missional organization, to launch a new venture, Red Letter Christians, which would be the centerpiece for this new movement. The website features a blog by Tony Campolo and his partners in ministry as well as resource and speaker recommendations.

Before Be Gee M’s redesign of the site, Red Letter Christians was receiving an average of 2,098 views per month, three months after the redesign and the relaunch, the site viewership rose to 59,865 in March 2011. Be Gee M continues to work with EAPE on the Red Letter Christians project, consulting on social media, marketing, and monetization strategy.

I worked with client to setup a distribution system, secure a merchant account, create a shopping cart, and integrate and automate all the systems.

The Simple Way is a web of subversive friends, conspiring to spread the vision of loving God, loving people, and following Jesus in our neighborhoods and in our world.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The Simple Way started out as a community house in 1999 and has since grown to an internationally recognized non-profit, but their web & communication abilities did not grow with them. The most recent website was built in 2002, infrequently updated, and difficult to navigate.

I rebuilt the website from the ground up, implementing a content management system (cms), so that the average internet user can update the website content. I developed a logo, which drew upon common elements from the earliest days of the community. I also created a Facebook fan page for Shane Claiborne, one of The Simple Way’s co-founders which has over 6,500 fans.

More recently, I am working to implement a constituent relationship management system which help track donors & supporters.

Case Study: The Simple Way

The Simple Way began as a community house in 1999 and has since grown into an internationally known Christian and social justice non-profit. Unfortunately, their website did not grow with them. In 2009, when Brian Gerald Murphy was hired to redesign the entire Simple Way brand, their website had an outdated design, a messy and complicated organization structure, and a hard-to-user interface.

What did we do?

Logo design

Social media setup & strategy (Facebook, Flickr, YouTube)

Website redesign

Web administration overhaul

What were the results?

6.63% increase in visits

26.64% increase in pageviews

18.76% increase in pages per visit

23.82% increase in average time on site

The new Simple Way website is sleek, engaging, and easy to use. It provides visitors with the information they are looking for and helps The Simple Way reach visitors with the messages they want to share.

I have worked with Sanctuary Collective since its inception, when it was only a vision in the (prophetic) co-founders mind. I helped create the name, I designed the website and blog, implemented and maintain a Facebook fan page, mailing list, and constituent/donor management database, and create promotional videos.

Asher Koleiboi envisioned the concept for a Legalize Trans* artistic & educational campaign, including a t-shirt, button, and sticker and asked me to create the web site to launch the campaign.

My answer was an immediate yes. I took his tshirt design and created a website to match the style of the shirt, created web graphics to allow fans to promote the site, integrated the project with Facebook, setup an eCommerce system, and implemented an affiliate program to allow other people to sell the shirt and keep a percentage of the retail price–enabling to raise funds for surgeries, health care, or other important causes.

The site launched on July 27 and already sold out its first run of shirts. A second edition shirt in red, buttons, and computer wallpapers are now available on www.legalizetrans.com. Follow @LegalizeTrans on Twitter for up-to-date announcements regarding the release.

Legalize Trans* sold over 200 shirts in the first 6 months!

Doin’ Time In The Homo No Mo Halfway House is based on Peterson Toscano’s real life experience floundering in various ex-gay ministries. Peterson is a theatrical performance activist using comedy and storytelling to address social justice concerns. He spent 17 years and over $30,000 on three continents attempting to change and suppress his same-sex orientation and gender differences. Since 2003 he has traveled in North America, Europe, and Africa performing in diverse venues and speaking in the media. Having spent a decade detoxing from years of repression and misinformation, he began to go beyond his own experience and write plays that explore sexism, racism, the environment, violence and gender.

After five years of touring the show internationally, Peterson retired the production and created a DVD of the live, last performance. I edited the video footage, selected and mixed audio, and created titling to promote the DVD on YouTube and Facebook.
